All Good People Here by Ashley Flowers gave me FULL BODY CHILLS. For those of you who don’t know, Ashley Flowers is the creator of my favorite true-crime podcast, Crime Junkies. Every week she and Britt Prewatt tell the story of a new case that leaves you on the edge of your seat.
This book was definitely written Crime Junkie style and the twists and turns leave you on the edge of your seat and guessing.
Summary
When Margot Davies was six, her friend January Jacobs was murdered. This tragedy greatly affected the town of Wakarusa, Indiana and drove Margot to become a reporter.
Another girl goes missing shortly after she moves back to take care of her sick uncle.
Margot immediately connects the two cases and goes on to do everything in her power to solve it.
Review
I LOVED THIS BOOK!
This story is told from two different time periods. Margot is in the present, trying to solve the murder of January while Krissy is in the past. Krissy’s point of view allows the reader to experience her daughter’s murder while events are unfolding.
The time shifts were very easy to follow and never got confusing. I actually enjoyed them because it constantly left me guessing and made the book hard to put down.
There are quite a few reviews that do not like the ending. I really liked the way it left me with more questions than answers. Did it upset me? Yes! But, it was a good kind of upset. Crime tends to be open-ended in real life. We don’t always get to know the why or the how. Ashley Flowers did an amazing job with this book and I can’t wait to see what she writes next.
Favorite Quotes
“Here something was horribly, horribly, wrong, and all she’d been able to think was something what will the neighbors say?
“The more you fought it, the more it pulled you under. For years she thought she’d escaped, and now here she was, back again.”
